The areas of East Prussia that I am currently researching the Losereit family name are the counties of Tilsit, Ragnit, and Pillkallen (Schloßberg). These areas of East Prussia south of the river Memel (Neman) are now part of the Kaliningrad Oblast of Russia. North of the river they are part of Lithuania.
Unfortunately many of the church and civil records were lost or destroyed during and after the end of the Second World War. Fortunately some church records have survived the war in the form of microfilms. These microfilms have been a valuable resource for my research. I have started to list the church records that still exist of the parishes that I am researching. I have also provided a list of archives and libraries where these records are located today.
